How a car accident on March 16 made me proud of being a Delhiite

Should I lament or feel proud to be a Delhiite? I met with Sms Audio 50 Cent a car accident last night on a busy road near AIIMS, but what is on my mind is not the damage caused to my car, but how a passerby stopped on seeing the Network 18 sticker on my car, and stood with me till 2:30 AM in the night. He happened to be from the same organisation, though we had never met; in fact, we did not even know each other before a commercial vehicle rammed into my car.

I dialled "100" and the PCR Van took 15 minutes to reach the accident spot (outside the AIIMS campus), which is believed to be a secured zone. Appeared after 15 minutes and vanished in next 5 minutes, the policemen left me with no help and no information. I called "100" again, and was given a number of the Defence Colony police station by the operator. Totally fumed, I called, but I was asked to approach the Hauz Khas police station as v-moda headphones costco the accident spot comes under their jurisdiction. Miffed with whatever was happening, I called and the head constable came again in 5-10 minutes.

I had almost lost it. The policeman suggested me to compromise on the spot, get the compensation from the owner of the vehicle, and avoid legal hassles. But the owner was not ready to pay the compensation, in fact he was interested in getting his vehicle seized, because he knew that he can Pandora Charms Sale get his vehicle released by paying a meagre fine imposed by a magistrate. And thus, he was not ready to pay a hefty sum as compensation for the damage.

Though I had an option to drag him to the court and claim the compensation, but the policeman clearly stated it will take minimum of four hearings (a matter of two to three months) before the final verdict comes. And it will cost you too! I could make it difficult for him as I had several points - hit and run case, no challan for the goods being carried by him, overloaded commercial vehicle, overspeed - but I am a working individual and have no time and money to waste in the complex legal proceedings. I mulled and concluded that there's no point in getting into the ineffective and long legal process. Honestly, I felt incapacitated in Delhi and had no option except to make up my mind to bear the loss. The car is insured, but when you claim there is some hidden cost involved that goes from your pocket. Also, the insurance coverage for some parts of your car is not 100 per cent. And, that also costs you.

But the helpful chap, whom I did not even know properly, guided me like an elder brother, struggled for the solution as if it was his own car. Yes, I was touched! I was happy to see that real, genuine and helpful people can still be found in Delhi. His support defeated my wrath for all that happened.

It ended up with a small amount paid by the owner of the commercial vehicle to me as compensation. I doubt that it will suffice, but I have assured the owner that if it costs less, I will return the money back, because my intent was not to rake in money.

Though our effete law system fails to win the heart, but Delhiites don't! No matter what, you have to help. And this makes you a true Delhiite. And this is what we should be known for.
